ARTE funktional is bringing something different…the essence is Art and Function in an Architectural context. From designed architectural and functional art to paintings and sculptures, this creative space represents emerging and established Okanagan and Canadian artists.
Carolina has been working in architectural ceramics in her Ashpa Naira Gallery & Studio on the westside of Okanagan Lake for 18 years, creating original and innovative design in clay for the living environment.
Ashpa Naira Studio is a ceramic studio specializing in the design, manufacture and installation of architectural ceramics, such as floors, kitchens, bathrooms, fireplaces, and columns for clients that think outside the box. In her home gallery, Carolina has represented the artwork of several Okanagan and Canadian artists for almost a decade.
You may wonder, what is architectural art? It is when purity of artistic design fuses with integrity of function. Her philosophy is based in the belief and the passion of ART in a living space, enabling the space to make a personal statement.
Thorough her own work and dealing the artwork of other artists, over the years Carolina have meet others working with different material in architectural art and the idea came to her, why not to promote all these artists/artisans together.
“My interest with ARTE funktional is to bring to the Okanagan Valley original functional art by Okanagan artists, which is more modern and contemporary in design,” says Carolina Sanchez de Bustamante. And now, all that artistic energy is under one roof, The Factory – Kelowna.
