The Factory Awards 2015 Trade Foundation Bursary

Posted by - June 25, 2015 - Factory Trade Foundation, News

2015 Trade Foundation Bursary

Last night at our annual Downtown After 5 evening at The Factory, the team awarded its second Factory Trade Foundation bursary to a hard working student at Okanagan College. In front of a packed house (we had over 280 guests!), The Factory and the Okanagan Trade Foundation presented Diana Charles a $2,500 bursary to help with tuition and books.

Diana is a first year student in the Carpentry & Joinery program in trades & apprenticeship department at Okanagan College. Each year, the selection committee carefully evaluates each applicant based on the following criteria: financial need, commitment and passion for his/her trade, and career ambitions. Congratulations Diana!

All donations of $20 or more receive a tax credit and 100% of donations go directly to the Factory Trade Foundation. As a group, The Factory is excited to give back to our community by supporting and encouraging future leaders to excel. We would like to thank the Okanagan Trade Foundation and  The Factory members, clients and friends that donated to the foundation to help Diana with her studies.

June 2014 "Downtown Kelowna After 5" at The Factory

The Factory members wanted to give back to our community… but how? Many hours of brainstorming gave rise to the idea to start the Factory Trade Foundation to help students enrolled in the one of the trades program at Okanagan College.  Last month, after a full year of planning and donations, the first recipient received the $2,500 bursary!

Matthew Brown, a first-year student enrolled in the welding trades department at Okanagan College, was selected to receive the very first Factory Trade Foundation bursary. Each year, the selection committee carefully evaluates each applicant based on the following criteria: financial need, commitment and passion for his/her trade, and career ambitions. Congratulations Matthew!

All donations of $20 or more receive a tax credit and 100% of donations go directly to the Factory Trade Foundation. As a group, The Factory is excited to give back to our community by supporting and encouraging future leaders to excel. We would like to thank The Factory members, clients and friends that donated to the foundation and helped make our idea a reality!

Downtown Kelowna After 5

Last night The Factory hosted the much-anticipated monthly networking event Downtown Kelowna After 5 put on by the Downtown Kelowna Association. It was another very well attended event… so much so it overflowed into our parking lot!

During the evening, we unveiled our new Factory Trade Foundation. The Factory Trade Foundation is an annual bursary for trade students at Okanagan College in Kelowna. We’re very excited to encourage and support our future leaders!

Here is John Haller (right), Dean of Trades and Apprenticeship at Okanagan College, with two of our Factory residents, Bo Snarksi from Scandinavian Hardwood Floors and Laura Cruse from V6B Design Group.
